LinkedIN or Locked In?
(The Future of Work is Not What You Think)
Wizards, grab your wands. Work in the future won't feel like work, it will feel like magic in a digital playground powered by ChatGPT.
LinkedIN has become a graveyard for original thought. Here's the thing which seems paradoxical and naively optimistic considering the apocalyptic discourse currently dominating the AI conversation... the future is incredibly human. In fact, it's insanely human.
In our last article, AI Wants Its Mommy, we discussed Responsibly Raised AI and the parallels between the food industry and the tech industry (much more on this later).
Shifting focus to adults now as we're all continuing to evolve together over time, we aren't only raising our children (of all forms), we're raising ourselves and simultaneously being raised by our environment. The current professional landscape itself is not sustainable even after some modification after the 2020 pandemic. Older generations are struggling with their identities moving out of the workforce, and younger generations are reluctant to even join the workforce and when they do they find themselves consumed by thoughts of escape.
Is this really the best we can do for humanity?
Yes, overall, work conditions have improved for the general population, but what if we can do even better?
What's Under the Facade
Tribalism is a survival tactic deeply embedded in the human psyche. Workplaces are typically rigid playgrounds where there is very little room for human error and consequences for stepping out of bounds are harsh. Thought processing has dominated fields where creativity can move mountains. Politics has gotten in the way of progress. People haven't felt safe to be authentic even when authenticity and belonging are core values of the organization they work for. No matter what age we are, we see tribalism play out through the games we play whether we're conscious we're playing or not.
What if we could be more intentional about the games we engage in?
Takes One to Know One
Maybe you've heard the saying, "if you spot it, you got it." If you've gone on LinkedIN lately, or listened to a random YouTuber talk about AI, you've probably heard "robots are coming for your job!"
But how many of us are already operating like robots? Following scripts we didn't write? Operating based on code we didn't program ourselves?
Sure, there's nothing wrong with asking ChatGPT to write your LinkedIN post, but if you love writing why would you do that?
The beauty of tools like ChatGPT is they amplify our talents, they don't replace them.
While everyone else is trying to automate themselves, the ones who will conquer this next wave of evolution are the ones who are letting it carry them to shore. It is, in fact, the most human thing to do; ride the wave.
If you're a writer, write! Let ChatGPT help you get louder, shine brighter, get your work seen by larger audiences. Or use ChatGPT with MidJourney to bring your writing to life.
If you're a mechanic who hates writing, let ChatGPT help you write! Create Agents to respond to emails, handle lead generation, and qualify new customers.
The magic is not created by using ChatGPT the same ways everyone else is. The magic is created by using ChatGPT in ways that only YOU can.
...
When machines can think better than we can what do we have left?
The answer to this is apparent everywhere. It's up to all of us to be curious enough to see it and courageous enough to utilize the revolutionary tools we now have at our fingertips to make magic with it.
Wizards, grab your wands. It's game time.
